The 12th August isn’t the best of times to be a pheasant, naked or otherwise. There’s nothing glorious to us about the start of the shooting season. But some (slightly) encouraging news reaches us from the pages of The Economist…it looks like the slow quail, dozy grey partridge and shambolic red grouse are all going to feel the heat of the shotgun’s lead before we do. Hurrah!
